Abstract. Effect of the uppermost part of the soil profile on the seismic excitations
is analyzed. Six soil profiles are considered. Linear equivalent modeling is
applied to calculate the site response. Peak ground acceleration of the input
signal to the soil profile varies from 0.1 to 0.6 g. It is shown that the dependence of soil physical-mechanical
properties on the deformation lead to variations in spectral amplitudes of the
response spectra on free-field. Increase in the thickness of the uppermost
layer significantly influences the response spectra shape. The PGA,
damping coefficient, deformation, and shear-wave velocity distribution with
depth are calculated tacking into account degradation curves. It is
demonstrated that limiting the damping coefficient by 15 % very slightly
affects the resulting free-field spectra. Soil profile decreases the input
signal (PGA)
when it exceeds 0.3 g.
Keywords: response spectrum, degradation curves, equivalent linear modeling,
seismogeological model of soil, PGA.
