Abstract. The first attenuation relationship of peak ground acceleration (PGA) for Sakhalin is obtained in this study. Ground motion data are collected by seismic networks of accelerometers and velocimeters. The new attenuation curves for Sakhalin provide a reasonable tool needed in the seismic hazard assessments, producing the General Seismic Hazard Maps of Russia, and rapid generating earthquake shaking maps. We have found that several GMPEmodels imported from other regions are well constrained with the observed data.

Keywords: ground motion prediction equation, seismic hazard assessment, peak ground acceleration.
